Information we collect

Candidates and contractors

We only collect more sensitive information, such as health information needed to make interview adjustments, where you choose to give it to us or where the law requires it for a particular role. Where a client requires background or criminal record checks for a role, we will tell you before any check is carried out.

Clients

Names, job titles and business contact details of the people we work with at client organisations, and records of our dealings with them.

Website visitors

If you use the contact form, we receive your name, email address, phone number if you give one, your message and any CV you attach. These are emailed straight to us and are not stored on the website. This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Where we get your information

Most information comes directly from you. We may also collect it from job boards and professional networking sites such as LinkedIn where you have made your profile available to recruiters, from people who recommend you to us, from referees and from our clients.

How we use your information and our lawful basis

Data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for each use of your information. We rely on the following.

We will always speak to you and get your agreement before sending your CV or details to a client about a specific role.

Who we share your information with

We never sell your information.

International transfers

Some of our service providers, including our recruitment database provider, may store or process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK data protection law, such as UK approved contract terms or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep your information

Careers in technology often span many years, and we regularly help people again long after we first worked with them. For that reason we keep candidate information for as long as it remains relevant to helping you find work, which can be a long time. If you would like us to delete your details at any point, email us and we will do so, unless we need to keep something for legal reasons. Records relating to placements and contract assignments are kept for as long as the law requires, which for financial and tax records is usually six years. When information is no longer needed, we delete it securely.

Keeping your information secure

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including access controls and secure systems, and we only share it with people who need it.

Your rights

You have the right to:

Some of these rights have exceptions, for example where we must keep records by law. To use any of them, email info@kieranknight.co.uk. There is normally no charge, and we will reply within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
